What products and services do you offer?

At the Lip Lab we specialise in creating custom cream or liquid makeup products. All our products are handmade in collaboration with YOU the client, to ensure they are exactly what you are looking for!

What’s the difference between a standard custom mixology and a Mix Your Own session?

Our standard mixology sessions have our expert mixologists on the tools while you customise your shade and everything that goes into it. Whereas in our Mix Your Own sessions you hold the tools and do all the mixing yourselves, under the guidance of our mixologists.

Why do I need to try the lipstick on my lips when making it?

Everyone’s individual lip and skin tone will affect how a lipstick appears. Because your skin tone and lip tone are different the lipstick will look different on your lips vs. the back of your hand. Which is why we always recommend trying your shade on your lip, so you know how it will actually look!

Are your products vegan?

Yes! Our foundations, concealers, blushes and bronzers are all entirely vegan and we have vegan options for our lipsticks and glosses!

How do i choose my colour/shade?

Each appointment commences with a personalised consultation aimed at determining your skin type and preferences. We discuss how often you will be using your products, how you like to wear and apply them and of course the types of colours or shades you think you want. Being able to custom make each product means we can try and tweak as we go to get it perfectly right!

will you recommend things if i’m unsure?

YES! The whole point of coming to The Lip Lab is that you are able to leverage the experience of working makeup artists to help you with your colour selections and shade matches if you are unsure or don’t know what suits you. We are here for advice on how to use your products and get the best out of them so if you are new to makeup or just looking to shake things up, we have you covered.

Are your foundations good for sensitive skin?

Our foundations are perfect for sensitive, reactive and acne-prone skin because they are a mineral and water-based product. Meaning they are natural, gentle and breathable on the skin. Because they are water-based it also means you don’t need any harsh makeup removers to take it off at the end of the day, which is even better for our sensitive clients. We have had many clients come through with extremely sensitive skin, all of which have never has issues with our products! They are also a non-comedogenic formula, meaning they don’t clog your pores!

Can you match a lipstick that I’ve had for years but can no longer get?

Yes! We have a specific colour match service for this exact purpose. All we need is a small sample of your original lipstick (just enough so we can get a couple of decent swatches). We will then match the colour as close as possible; keep in mind this is all done by hand so there may be a very slight variation! We can also match the texture of the lipstick if you wish, or we can swap the texture for something else if you prefer.

Can I get my products again if I lose them or run out?

Yes, you can re-order all your custom products via our website, email, phone or social media! We record and save your unique formulas under your own client profile in our system so that they can easily be remade. We can even ship them to you!

If I don’t live in Perth, can I still get a custom product?

Unfortunately, we do need to see you in person to create a fully custom product. However, if you are wanting a lipstick colour match you can post us a sample and once matched, we will return your sample and send you your new lipstick! If you already have a custom formula with us and have since moved away from the city you can still re-order, we can ship worldwide!

How long do the services take?

The length of your appointment depends on the service you would like to book, as each product is handmade by our team. Below is a list of services and how long we allow for the appointment:
